The struggle you're in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow

Welcome to Waves of Wellness

In this busy world, it can be difficult to make time to focus on your needs. Therapy provides a space to do so and share your story in a safe and non judgmental environment. Sessions are a time to practice self care and develop tools that help you gain a better understanding of yourself.

Life is full of ebbs and flows and ever changing tides. Therapy is a safe place to talk about these waves of life and process anything that is on your mind. Some weeks you might choose to focus on an ongoing concern, while others you might want to talk about something completely different. The choice is yours and sessions are a time for you to focus on you.

Student Centered Therapy

Being a college student can be a time of growth and independence, but it can also be one of the most challenging transitions in a young person’s life. College students frequently have to juggle demanding academics, adjusting to life with roommates, building new social connections amongst many other transitions.  Counseling can help students navigate through these stressors and learn new tools to problem solve and build coping strategies.

Topics of Discussion

While everyone has their own stories and experiences, below are just a handful topics students discuss in counseling sessions. You are free to talk about anything that you like as this is your time to focus on you.

Examples of Therapy Topics:  ~anxiety,  ~depression,- ~relationship concerns, ~academic overload, ~ family conflict, ~sexual orientation, ~addiction, ~ADHD,  ~Covid related concerns, ~intrusive thoughts, ~body image              ~and many more.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will I attend Therapy

This is a question that gets asked often and the answer differs for each person. Some people come to therapy seeking short-term counseling while others prefer ongoing, long-term sessions. Together, we will determine how often you would like to meet, and from there, we will frequently check in to assess progress, goals, and evaluate your needs.

How often will we meet?

Most people do attend sessions weekly, but others prefer every other week, monthly, etc. We will discuss this during our initial session and develop a schedule that works best for you. The frequency of sessions can also be modified at any point.

Do we meet in an office or virtually?

Therapy sessions are done virtually using a Hippa compliant version of zoom for medical professionals.

Do you accept insurance?

We accept a number of the major insurance carriers including but not limited to Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United, Elan, Cigna,  etc. Each insurance plan has its own fees determined by your particular plan. If you don’t have insurance, we do offer out-of-pocket fees per session that I am happy to go over with you.

If I don't have insurance, what are the fees?

Yes, the self pay rate is $200 for the initial intake session and $150 thereafter. If fees are a deterrent, we can discuss payment options.
